National resources include links to the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Technical Assistance Center, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency that all include additional examples, templates, interactive tools, guidelines, and training materials on emergency planning for all schools.

December Training and TA Sessions: Emergency Communication
What: School Safety and Emergency Management staff will provide training in December on required communication following an emergency response. When an emergency happens, school leaders need to know how to prioritize their actions to provide the safest response possible. This session will review a couple of possible scenarios, address what steps to prioritize, and explain how to effectively communicate with families and staff during and after an incident. SSEM staff will stay on after the training to answer questions or take requests for follow up.
When: December 2nd from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
Who Should Attend: Any school administrator or staff member who would like training or assistance on emergency communications.

January Training and TA Sessions: Personal Emergency Accommodation Plans (PEAPs)
What: The School Safety and Emergency Management program will present on Personal Emergency Accommodation Plans (PEAPs). A PEAP is a form that is used to help identify the needs of students with disabilities and it includes what accommodations those students will require during an emergency. This session will explain how to implement PEAPs and how they could be used to accommodate and include students and staff with access and functional needs in school emergency drills and exercises. Both January sessions will cover the same content.
When: January 6th and 20th from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
Who Should Attend: Any school administrator or staff member who would like training or assistance on emergency planning for students with access and functional needs.
