Director's Advisory Council

Who We Are

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) believes that educators at every level have deep expertise when it comes to teaching and learning, and are an asset to policy discussions and state-level initiatives related to education. ODE seeks to demonstrate the value educational leaders play. The Director’s Advisory Council (DAC) was formed in an effort to regularly engage educational leaders as thought partners and in turn, better serve schools and districts in Oregon.

Deputy Superintendent Colt Gill talks to members of his advisory council

Our goal is to work with teachers and other educational leaders to elevate the teacher voice in federal, state, and local education policy. Our larger goal is to improve the graduation rate in Oregon. Educators involved in this council will identify best practices, provide input, offer feedback, and make recommendations to the Director of the Oregon Department of Education.
