The resources in this section provide basic information about college credit in high school. Explore these to understand the options available and learn more about how to access your first college credit in high school class.

    Talk to a teacher or counselor, or consult your high school's course catalog, to see what options are available in your school.
  • Follow your curiosity!
    Thinking about going into the medical field? Love writing? Passionate about history? Try to find a course that will let you learn more about a subject you enjoy or explore a possible future career.
  • Math and writing classes are very likely to transfer to your next steps after high school
    A math class like College Algebra/Precalculus or a writing class like technical writing or basic composition will prepare you for a variety of possible pathways after high school, including industry certifications, pre-apprenticeships, and a 2- or 4-year degree.
  • Take a class with a friend (or two)​​​
    If you are feeling unsure, recruit some friends and choose a college class for you all to take. You'll have a built-in study group and support system and can navigate any challenges together.

  • Career Journeys Video Series

    This video series supports learning about careers in an immersive, story-telling fashion. Enjoy the short videos that share the journeys of diverse young Oregonians from all around the state. Dive into the longer Q&A videos about their experiences and u​se the toolkit to create engaging lessons around the video series and career development. Each federally recognized tribe in Oregon is represented by a young person sharing their story.

  • Career Connect Oregon

    This website serves as a resource and communication hub to support learners, teachers, families, and business and industry partners in learning more about careers in Oregon. It hosts a variety of resources and tools, including Sassy—the AI explorer. The regional pages provide opportunities for interested parties to connect and exchange ideas and strategies.​

  • Career College Collaborative (C3)

    C3 partnered with the Oregon Department of Education to develop tools to support career education, including career journey maps that can be used by counselors, teachers, families and caregivers, and students to help learners identify their goals, strengths and interests, and craft a path forward to meet their career aspirations. Lessons in career education and preparation for postsecondary experiences were adapted from some used in Washington state to better meet the needs of Oregon learners.​​
