ODE will provide a web training on Thursday, December 5 at 2 PM for the 2019-20 Second Period Cumulative ADM collection. This training will cover the submission of Second Period Cumulative ADM records for the period of July 1, 2019 - December 31, 2019. If you are unable to attend this web training, it will be recorded, and the video should be available within a week of the training at the same web location listed above.
If you have any questions pertaining to Second Period Cumulative ADM you would like reviewed in the training or think newer submitters may find valuable, please e-mail them to Amanda Leopard. If you have any questions, please contact your Regional ESD Partners or Amanda Leopard at 503-947-5674.
The Staff Position Collection gathers data for all school/district staff employed for at least 20 consecutive workdays over a span of time that includes December 1, 2019. Materials for this collection are available online at the Staff Position Resources page and the Staff Position Schedule of Due Dates page.
A web training will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 2 PM, and will be available to watch on demand on ODE’s Video Training page shortly thereafter. For additional information regarding this collection, please contact your Regional ESD Partner or Ryan Clark at 503-947-5632.
The Kindergarten Assessment Collections Audit Review Window is open from Monday, November 18 through Tuesday, November 26, 2019. Please log into each collection during this time and view the audits. During the review window, districts have the opportunity to view and correct identified audit items as needed. If you have other changes/additions to make to the collections, you may make them during this time. The audit manual for the Kindergarten assessment collections can be found on the Kindergarten Assessment Resources district webpage. The preliminary aggregate reports will be available for districts to review in the Achievement Data Insight (ADI) Application from January 2 through January 17, 2020. For questions, please contact your Regional ESD Partner or Elyse Bean at 503-947-5831.
The Fall Membership validation opened on November 7 and will close on Friday, January 24, 2020. The 2019-20 student membership manual has been posted. For more information or questions, please contact your Regional ESD Partner or Robin Stalcup at or 503-947-0849.
The NCES Dropout and Graduation Rate Validation and the Four and Five Year Cohort Graduation Rate Validations opened October 24 in the Achievement Data Insight (ADI) and will remain open until December 6. Please be sure to complete your First Period Cumulative ADM data submission and your Exit Adjustment review before reviewing your data in these validations. The matches to GED certificates have been applied to the data in these validations. For resources, please view the two trainings (Oct. 3 and Oct. 17) that cover the graduation/dropout process and review the Cohort and Exit Adjustment/NCES Dropout manuals. If you have any questions, please contact your Regional ESD Partner or Beth Blumenstein at 503-947-5767.
Oregon Department of Education (ODE) completed a successful operational science assessment in the spring of 2019 and the initial standard setting process in August of 2019; however, we need to address limitations we encountered in recruiting efforts for that standard setting. We are engaging with several race/ethnicity group community partners who represent Oregon’s diverse race/ethnicity groups to ensure that we are hearing from educators who represent our historically underrepresented populations in a manner that respects their perspectives. ODE is committed to ensuring that a substantial community engagement process occurs before our summative science scores are presented to the State Board of Education and made public.
2018-19 OSAS Science Assessment scores will likely not be available before the opening of the 2019-20 assessment window. We advise high schools to make decisions about re-assessing students after 2018-19 scores are made available to avoid unnecessarily re-assessing students. Students who have previously banked a passing score either on the legacy OAKS assessment or the OSAS assessment will not need to re-assess.
Students may wish to take the OSAS Science Assessment again in an effort to improve their score, or if they deem it inconvenient to wait for scores to be made available. In cases where the student had previously banked a legacy OAKS passing score, the new OSAS Science Assessment Score will replace the legacy OAKS score. For students who have previously taken the OSAS Science Assessment (2018-19), the higher of the two scores will be retained.
Students may take the OSAS Science Assessment prior to their 11th grade year, the year of accountability; however, the student’s readiness for the expected rigor and content of the assessment should be taken into consideration in cases of 9th and 10th grade students wishing to take the high school OSAS Science Assessment prior to 11th grade.
