LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success

Senate Bill 52 (2021) allocated $2.1M in funding for the implementation of the LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success Plan for the 2021-2023 biennium. The LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success Plan was written to address barriers to educational success for Oregonian students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, queer, questioning, two-spirit, intersex, asexual, nonbinary, and the myriad of marginalized gender identities and sexual orientations represented by the (+). This student success plan establishes a framework for creating safe, inclusive and welcoming schools for LGBTQ2SIA+ students.

The Oregon Department of Education will be awarding grants to community-based organizations, culturally specific organizations, early learning hubs, providers of early learning services, school districts, education service districts, public charter schools, Tribal governments, post-secondary institutions of education, or a consortium of these entities to implement strategies and objectives outlined in the plan.

*Update: Students May Co-Apply with Trusted Adult*

In order to increase safety and connection with student advisory group members, we are offering students the option to co-apply with a trusted adult of their choice such as a school staff member, parent or caregiver, or community-based educator who also has experience in supporting LGBTQ2SIA+ affirming communities. Both the student and their trusted adult should fill out the full letter of interest/application (linked below) and submit, indicating within the application they are applying together. Students are not required to apply with an adult, but have the option if they wish.

If you are interested in joining the Advisory Group, please download the letter of interest (word doc or pdf), fill it out, and submit to the LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success Coordinator at All application materials and information can also be found on the LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success Advisory Group Page. In addition, we ask you to share this invitation broadly with LGBTQ2SIA+ serving organizations and school communities.

Letters of interest are due no later than Wednesday July 6th, 2022 by 11:59 p.m.
