An important part of the accountability work will be changes to how ODE works. This will be seen in three main categories: the internal structure and alignment of the agency, improvements to the grant and procurement process and staff development.
Much of the Internal structure and alignment changes are now complete. Agency leadership was restructured under Director Dr. Charlene Williams and some teams have moved within the organization so that similar functions and skill sets are aligned within the same office.
Updates to the grant and procurement process are underway. Grant templates are being standardized to make it easier for districts to apply, the procurement process is being streamlined and training developed to make the whole process easier and more familiar to district staff.
Internally at ODE, new training materials are under development for staff, managerial expectations are being refined and staff training practices and programs will be enhanced to ensure we are meeting the needs of districts.
