Hòa Nguyễn Impact Awards

The Oregon Department of Education is pleased to open the Hòa Nguyễn Impact Awards for self-nominations. Any public education entity in Oregon is eligible to self-nominate to most categories, with the exception of the Most Improved Regular Attendance category. 

2026 Hòa Nguyễn Impact Awards

Most Improved Regular Attendance 
This award will be determined and awarded by the Oregon Department of Education. No nomination is required. This award recognizes the percentage-point increase in overall regular attendance from the 2024-25 school year to the 2025-26 school year, based on the May 1 Data Collection.

Self-Nomination Awards Categories:
Most Innovative Attendance Practice
Celebrates creative strategies that remove attendance barriers such as transportation challenges, culturally relevant engagement, wellness supports, community partnerships, and more.

Attendance Champion
Recognizes sustained, multi-year excellence in regular attendance improvement. To qualify, entities must show an increase in regular attendance each year for five consecutive years, beginning with the 2021-22 school year for the 2025-26 awards cycle.

Student and Family Partnership Award
Honors exemplary models of collaboration that center students, caregivers, and community partners as co-designers of attendance-supporting practices and solutions.

Equity Impact Award
Recognizes significant progress toward gap-closing targets related to K-12 regular attendance.

Eligibility

Any public education entity in Oregon is eligible to submit a self-nomination, including:
  • School Districts
  • Charter Schools
  • Youth Corrections Education Programs
  • Juvenile Detention Education Programs
  • Approved Recovery Schools
  • Long Term Care and Treatment Centers

Self-nominations can be submitted using the 2026 Hòa Nguyễn Impact Awards Self-Nomination Form.

Timeline

Nominations Open: April 23, 2026
Nominations Close: May 22, 2026
Awards Announced: August 2026
