Wheatridge Wind Energy Facility is an approved wind and solar energy generation facility. Wind facility components include up to 292 turbines with a peak generating capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW); solar facility components include up to 150 MW of photovoltaic solar energy system and up to 41 distributed energy storage system sites, to be located on approximately 14,624 acres.
Approved: The facility has not yet been built. Construction of wind facility components must begin by May 24, 2020 and must be completed by May 24, 2023. Construction of solar facility components must begin by November 22, 2022 and must be completed by November 22, 2025.
The Wheatridge West turbine group would be located entirely within Morrow County, approximately seven miles northwest of Heppner. The Wheatridge East turbine group would be located approximately 16 miles northeast of Heppner and will span Morrow County and Umatilla County. PDF Map
