Wheatridge Renewable Energy Facility I (WREF I) is a 100 megawatt (MW) wind energy generation facility with 40 wind turbines and related or supporting facilities, within a 3,100 acre site boundary.

Under Review/Construction: Construction of the facility commenced on January 15, 2020; commercial operation is anticipated in October 2020. On June 10, 2020, the Department received a Request for Amendment to Transfer the WREFI site certificate from the current certificate holder, Wheatridge Wind Energy, LLC, to a new certificate holder, Portland General Electric. On June 15, 2020, the Department issued Public Notice of a comment period, from June 15 to August 21, 2020 and transfer hearing on ​August 21, 2020 . 

The transfer hearing has been scheduled for August 21, 2020, 8:45 AM. The transfer hearing will occur as part of the Council's regularly scheduled virtual August 21, 2020 EFSC meeting (remote and conference call-in participation options). The record will also close at the end of the transfer hearing for any written comments; Council will review the transfer request and any comments received in writing or at the transfer hearing immediately after the close of the transfer hearing. ​
