Overview of Computer Science Implementation Plan
In May of 2022, the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) were directed by former Governor Kate Brown to develop a statewide, long-term implementation plan for computer science education to broaden participation for all students by the 2027-2028 school year.
Computer Science Education Statewide Implementation Plan
This plan is grounded in the belief that a basic understanding of computer science is vital for all Oregon students. The purpose of the Computer Science Education Statewide Implementation Plan is to provide direction and a reference for educators, policymakers, industry professionals, and community members moving forward.
The Executive Summary is also available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese (Traditional and
Simplified),
Chuukese,
Russian,
Somali,
Spanish, and
Vietnamese.

⭐ODE has completed its 2nd draft of the Optional Computer Science Education Standards for K-12 educators.

2nd Round of External Feedback will be:
April 11 - July 2026.
Residents of Oregon can review the
draft optional standards, and provide
feedback any time during the feedback window.
