ORS 329.841 directs the Department of Education to develop and implement a statewide education plan for African American/Black students who are in early childhood through post-secondary education programs. The Department has convened an advisory group comprised of members of the African American/Black community and other community partners from across the state of Oregon to advise the Department on the creation and implementation of the plan.

The Oregon Department of Education African American/Black Student Success (AABSS) Advisory Group will be holding virtual meetings on the third Wednesday of the month from 9:00 am - 11:00 am PST.
During these meetings the Advisory Group will provide insight, advise, and offer recommendations to the Oregon Department of Education around the development and implementation of the statewide plan for African American/Black students who are being served in early childhood to post-secondary education programs.
Individuals wishing to call-in via the conference line (listen only) are asked to use the following information:
Presently, the African American/Black Student Success Program is only accepting written public testimony. Please submit written testimony electronically to ODE Staff no later than 5:00 p.m. the date before the meeting. ADA accommodation and translation (including ASL) requests should be made by calling 971-240-8425 at least 2 business days before the meeting.
