Resources for Schools and Districts



Schools and districts are responsible for complying with state and federal civil rights laws as a condition of accepting state and federal funding. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Training 

ODE’s Civil Rights Specialists are available to provide training to K-12 public school districts, public charter schools, ESDs, and other education partners. Email ODE.CivilRights@ode.oregon.gov to request more information about training options. 
Many trainings and webinars are available on a regular basis through virtual platforms. Sign up for ODE’s civil rights listservs (Title VITitle IXSection 504, or Civil Rights Coordinators) to get regular updates on available webinars, trainings, and additional resources. 

Technical Assistance 

ODE’s Civil Rights Specialists can provide technical assistance to K-12 public school districts, public charter schools, ESDs, and other education partners to help them understand state and federal civil rights laws and their obligations. Technical assistance includes providing individuals with information about civil rights laws, policies, court cases, case resolutions, guidance, and best practices, as well as connection to resources and support. ODE does not provide legal advice.
