Golden Hills Wind Project is approved to be a wind energy facility with up to 125 wind turbines and a maximum capacity of 400 megawatts, located within a site boundary of approximately 29,500 acres.

Under Review/Approved: The facility has not yet been built. Construction must begin by June 18, 2020.

On July 6, 2018, the Department received a complete Request for Amendment 5 (RFA5) for the Golden Hills Wind Project site certificate (provided in link below). RFA5 requests approval for construction and operation of a differing turbine model option that would increase turbine hub height, maximum blade tip height, and reduce minimum blade tip clearance; RFA5 also requests to amend Condition PRE-DC-01 based on differing turbine model option specifications and to eliminate a restriction on combined weight of turbine metal.

The Department issued a Draft Proposed Order on Request for Amendment 5 on July 13, 2018, which initiates a public comment period on the complete RFA5 and Draft Proposed Order extending from July 13, 2018 through the close of the public hearing on August 23, 2018. Additional details on the public hearing are provided here and are included in the notice attached below.
