Golden Hills Wind Project is approved to be a wind energy facility with up to 125 wind turbines and a maximum capacity of 400 megawatts, located within a site boundary of approximately 29,500 acres.
Approved/Under Construction: The facility commenced Phase 1 construction (Operations and Maintenance Building) on June 8, 2020. The construction completion deadline is June 18, 2021.

On October 1, 2020, the Department received preliminary Request for Amendment 6 of the Golden Hills Wind Project site certificate (pRFA6). pRFA6 seeks Council approval for the following site certificate changes: extension of the construction completion deadline by 18 months from June 18, 2021 to December 31, 2022; addition of approximately 534 acres to the facility micrositing corridor to adjust the final location of access roads and collector lines; and, amendment of 7 previously imposed site certificate conditions related to the Council's Historic, Cultural and Archeological standard. On October 16, 2020, the Department issued Public Notice of receipt of pRFA6, notifying the public of receipt of pRFA6 and of the next steps in the amendment review process.

Preliminary Request for Amendment 6 includes a Type B Review Amendment Determination Request (Type B Review ADR) seeking concurrence that the amendment request be processed under Type B review, which is currently being evaluated by the Department.

The Department will post its determination on the Type B Review ADR to the website and will issue a courtesy notice via ClickDimensions of its determination. Following review and completeness determination of pRFA6, the Department will issue a Draft Proposed Order and Notice of Draft Proposed Order, initiating a public comment period on both the amendment request and Draft Proposed Order. These materials will be posted to the project webpage below upon issuance.
