Facilities

Shepherds Flat Central is a wind energy facility with 116 turbines and a maximum generating capacity of 290 megawatts, located within a site boundary of approximately 11,769 acres.
Under Review/Operating. On May 21, 2019, the Department received an Amendment Determination request for a proposed amendment to replace the facility’s existing turbine blades and components, increasing the maximum rotor diameter from 100 meters (328.1 feet) to 127 meters (416.7 feet). The certificate holder proposes to amend the site certificate to decrease the minimum allowed blade tip clearance for the facility from 25 meters (82.0 feet) to 21.5 meters (70.5 feet) above ground. The certificate holder has requested the Department determine if the proposed amendment justifies review under the “Type B” review process.
