Facilities

Shepherds Flat North is a wind energy facility with 106 turbines and a peak generating capacity of 265 megawatts, located within a site boundary of approximately 9,264 acres.
Under Review/Operating. On December 18, 2019, the Department issued a Proposed Order on Request for Amendment 2 of the Shepherds Flat North site certificate (RFA2). The Proposed Order recommends that Council find and approve the proposed facility modifications, which includes amending Condition 26 to lower the minimum aboveground blade tip clearance for the existing wind turbines from 25 to 21.5 meters, install longer turbine blades on the existing towers, known as wind turbine repowering. RFA2 is being processed under Type B review and therefore does not include a public hearing or opportunity to request a contested case on the proposed order. The Council will review the Proposed Order on Request for Amendment 2 at the December 19-20, 2019 Council meeting, as described in the public notice below.
