Shepherds Flat North is a wind energy facility with 106 turbines and a peak generating capacity of 318 megawatts, located within a site boundary of approximately 9,264 acres.
Under Review/Operating. On May 21, 2019, the Department received an Amendment Determination Request for a proposed amendment (Amendment 2). On October 7, 2019, the Department received a Request for Amendment 2 to the Shepherds Flat North site certificate (RFA2). RFA2 seeks approval for wind turbine upgrades that would include replacing the wind turbine blades and modifications to the nacelles. The upgrades would require Condition 26 to be amended, lowering the minimum aboveground wind turbine blade tip clearance from 25 to 21.5 meters. On October 23, 2019, the Department determined the RFA3 justifies review under the Type B amendment review process.
