The school business office has an integral role in Medicaid billing. The following resources have been developed to assist business offices with the implementation and maintenance of School Medicaid programs.
Updated State Funding Program Rules and Policies. Two state education grants had rules and policies that impacted SBHS Medicaid billing: the High Cost Disability Grant (HCD) and the State School Fund Transportation Grant (STG). Both grants required that any Medicaid reimbursement received be deducted from the state funding applications. With input from SB111 pilot districts, the Oregon Association of School Business Officials (OASBO), and other education partners, the ODE successfully updated OAR and policy. From the 2019-20 school year forward, school districts are no longer required to deduct SBHS Medicaid revenue from grant applications for the HCD and STG.
