Annual Vehicle Inspector Certificate
All pupil transportation vehicles (including school buses and all activity vehicles including Type 20 & Type 10) must be inspected by a certified ODE Inspector annually to remain eligible for active service in a pupil transportation operation's fleet. The current edition of the maintenance manual published below is the inspector's standard for whether a vehicle can be used or must be repaired before use.
2007 Maintenance Manual (PDF)
Candidates for the ODE Inspector certificate should study the manual. When prepared to complete the written open-book test, they may contact ODE to schedule a test at our Salem office, or find a local proctor to administer the test.
