A Note of Caution

NOTE: The reports on this page display the percent of students meeting or exceeding the achievement standards that were in place during the academic year the results are reported. The statewide assessment system, which measures whether students have mastered the academic content, is adjusted periodically to remain aligned with the required content. When achievement standards (cut scores) are revised, it is not appropriate to compare the percent of students meeting from one year to the next. Changes for 2010-11​

  • Achievement standards for mathematics at grades 3-8 were revised to align with the Common Core State Standards for mathematics.
  • Starting in the 2010-11 school year, the high school grade of accountability changed from grade 10 to grade 11. Students in their eleventh grade year who passed the state math assessment (regular or extended) for high school in a prior year were able to "bank" their tests and use it to fulfill the high school assessment requirement.

Changes for 2011-12​

  • Achievement standards for reading/literature and science were revised to align with the Common Core State Standards for reading and the Science Core and Content Standards approved by the Oregon State Board of Education in 2009.
  • Due to budgetary restrictions, during its 2011 Session, the Oregon State Legislature determined that the Writing Performance Assessment will only be available for students enrolled in Grade 11 who have not already met or exceeded the state achievement standard on the Writing assessment. As described in ODE Numbered Memorandum # 001-2011-12, this restriction went into effect starting in 2011-12.
