• District Support Specialists
  The District Support Specialist (DSS) serves as a strategic partner to Oregon school districts, helping improve outcomes for disabled students and students experiencing disability. DSSs provide targeted technical assistance, professional development, and evidence-based resources tailored to each district’s unique needs. They collaborate closely with district and regional teams to analyze data, address implementation challenges, and build sustainable systems that align with both compliance requirements and best practices.
  
• District Compliance Specialists
  District Compliance Specialists serve as ODE’s primary implementers of Oregon’s System of General Supervision. They conduct monitoring activities to ensure districts and schools meet federal and state requirements for special education, including reviewing policies, procedures, and practices for legal alignment and consistency. ODE encourages parents and districts to resolve concerns at the local level whenever possible, but both regional and ODE contacts are available to provide additional support when needed.
