(Federal) USDA Farm to School Grant: Local Food For Schools (LFS) Grant

Most Oregon School Districts participate in the State-funded Oregon Farm to CNP Grant for Reimbursement of Oregon Grown and Processed food.  We anticipate that the State Grant just mentioned will continue operate next biennium.

However, we now have an additional Federal grant to administer. The USDA has given our State just over $2 million to administer a new Federal Farm to School reimbursement grant entitled USDA Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program, (or, the LFS Grant for short).  Again, this is in addition to our regular State-funded grant program that will be operated at the same time.

The USDA has made these funds available to our state with the stipulation that we don’t duplicate efforts already in place.  Therefore, we will essentially make these funds available to Sponsors for specific items that aren’t allowed in our regular State reimbursement grant.
