Welcome to the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

    • OEDI strives to be a transformative education system that centers human dignity, collaborative partnership, and courageous engagement with complexity, resulting in a system where everyone has access to opportunities and resources needed to thrive. Where every learner, family, and community is seen, heard, and valued.
We partner with educators, communities, and core-agency teams to co-design policies, practicies and systems. These transformational systems center human dignity and will build pathways to belonging, wellness, and success. We define equity as each learner receiving what they need to reach their full academic and social potential.

    • Oregon Department of Education - Education Equity Stance

Education equity ensures fair policies, practices, and resource allocation to support historically and currently marginalized students and families, including civil rights-protected groups. As Oregon's student population grows more diverse, schools must address disparities such as the academic achievement gap, which disproportionately affects traditionally marginalized communities. True equity requires a commitment from educators at all levels to prepare every student for success beyond high school. Senate Bill 739 reinforces the state's dedication to honoring student diversity by integrating multicultural history into curricula and refining instruction to reflect diverse contributions.
