Mental Health and Wellness Strategies to Support Students Impacted by Immigration Activity

The increase in immigration enforcement activity across Oregon has created an environment of profound uncertainty and fear for many students and families. Students, families and school staff may be experiencing social, emotional, and physical responses such as stress, anxiety, and hypervigilance, in response to increased immigration enforcement.

The resource below has been translated into nine common languages of Oregon and provides strategies for responding to the increase of stress and distress students and families may be facing. These strategies were centrally developed with input from the Latino/a/x community and may be particularly useful to district and schools' leadership. However, these strategies are available for all to use, whether for your own support or for best practices to support the communities around you.
